Cattle Raisers Museum | Fort Worth, TX Website Redesign

The Cattle Raisers Museum in Fort Worth, Texas celebrates the rich history and heritage of the cattle industry in the American West. Through interactive exhibits, historic artifacts, and educational programming, the museum highlights the role of ranching in shaping Texas culture and the nation's economy. From trail drives and branding irons to modern innovation, it preserves the stories of the men and women who built the cattle industry and continues to inspire new generations with the enduring spirit of the West.

When the museum was ready to bring its digital presence up to the standard of the experience inside its walls, it partnered with Bluebird Creative for a full website redesign.

The Challenge

The museum needed a website that honored the heritage of the American West while meeting the expectations of a modern audience. Its previous site struggled to balance storytelling with function. Visitors found it difficult to explore exhibits, donate online, or check upcoming events, which meant the site was working against the very goals it existed to support.

The problems ran deeper than the front end. Behind the scenes, staff were boxed in by a complex, outdated system that made routine updates a chore. Keeping content current took more time and technical know-how than it should have, so the site often lagged behind everything happening at the museum. What the team needed was a digital home that looked the part, paired with a content management system simple enough to run themselves.

The deeper tension is one most heritage organizations face. The brand had to feel authentically Western, rooted in history and tradition, without feeling dated or stuck in the past. The redesign had to respect where the museum came from while building something made for how people actually browse, give, and plan visits today.

The Approach: Designed in Figma

We designed the new site in Figma, which let us move quickly through layouts and refine the look and feel before a single line of code was written. The design pairs the authenticity of Western history with the clarity today's visitors expect, using imagery, typography, and structure that let the museum's story lead while keeping the key actions, exploring exhibits, donating, and viewing events, easy to find.

Built for the Team: A Scalable CMS

From there, we developed the site in WordPress on a user-friendly, scalable foundation. The priority was independence. The museum's team can now manage content updates, event listings, and donation tools on their own, without hitting technical roadblocks or waiting on outside help. The result is a website that stays as current as the museum itself.
